Gateway Door and Contracting repairs and replaces garage doors across O’Fallon, most jobs the same day. We are a veteran-owned, family-run shop based in St. Charles, immediately east of O’Fallon, with a 5.0 Google rating across 589 reviews. O’Fallon is the largest city in St. Charles County and it writes its own building code rather than following the county, which changes two things for anyone replacing a door here.

First, the permit rule is unusually relaxed. O’Fallon exempts replacement of doors and windows outright, with no limit on how many, provided the opening size does not change. Neighbouring Flint Hill and the county both cap that same exemption at three openings.

Second, the electrical rule. O’Fallon requires electrical work to be carried out by a contractor licensed by St. Charles County or the State of Missouri. A straight opener swap onto an existing outlet is not electrical work, but running a new circuit for one is, and that distinction is worth knowing before you book anybody.

Most of what we do here is repair. A door is genuinely finished when the bottom section has rusted through, the panels are bent past straightening, or the opener is old enough that parts are discontinued. For figures before you call, our 2026 Saint Charles pricing guide lists installed costs by door type.

What Actually Breaks Around O’Fallon

O’Fallon housing stock is mostly late 1990s and 2000s subdivisions with three and four-car garages. Those doors are now old enough that the original springs and openers are reaching the end of their service life at roughly the same time, which is why we see the same handful of faults here over and over.

What we get called out for in O’Fallon:

  • Broken torsion springs, the most common call by a wide margin, and the one job nobody should attempt at home
  • Openers running without moving the door, usually a stripped drive gear rather than a failed motor, and usually the cheaper fix
  • Worn rollers and bearings on wide double and triple doors, which make far more noise than a single door ever does
  • Doors off the track after a cable let go on one side, which pulls a wide door badly out of square
  • Original hardware from the build reaching end of life all at once, hinges, rollers, cables and drums together

Why Choose Gateway Door and Contracting

Raised Panel garage doors
  • A single firm since 2022: January 2022 brought Gateway Door and Contracting and Durbin Garage Doors together under one roof. Read the announcement.
  • Our own crew: O’Fallon work is never subcontracted. Whoever prices the job is whoever carries it out. They are covered by general liability and by workers’ compensation for the whole time they are on your property.
  • Springs: a standard torsion spring is covered for two years. The powder-coated DuraMaster carries five, because the coating slows the metal fatigue that ends a spring’s life.
  • Opener cover: Genie motors carry ten years with limited lifetime on several models, and a LiftMaster belt drive is covered for the life of the belt.
  • Fitting: our workmanship is guaranteed in its own right, and that sits on top of whatever the manufacturer covers rather than replacing it.

Brandon was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and on time. Fixed the problem in no time. Unfortunately, getting my garage door to work so fast, I forgot about programing the remote controls for the vehicles and the outside key pad.

Austin did an excellent job as always. I have used his services for years and I’ve always been very happy with the professionalism as well as the price. Austin did an emergency repair a few weekends ago at 7am and then came out to do a new install this week and I am very happy with it. Thank you! I highly recommend!

Popular Garage Door Styles in O’Fallon, MO

Your garage door does a lot of heavy lifting for your home’s curb appeal and security, often taking up a third of your front view. With so many newer subdivisions and three-car garages in this area, the right style matters. Homeowners here tend to choose based on their home’s architecture, insulation needs, and budget. We help you compare styles, materials, colors, and options before anything gets installed.

Traditional Raised-Panel Steel

Traditional Raised Panel Wood

Steel, minimal upkeep, and available in the insulation levels a large attached garage actually benefits from.

Best for: replacing the original builder door on a late 1990s or 2000s home.

Vinyl Garage Doors

Wayne Dalton - Vinyl Specialty 8700

Wayne Dalton builds these, the Model 8700 vinyl door, with a wood-grain texture and UV-resistant finish over a low-maintenance shell.

Best for: subdivisions where the door faces the street and upkeep matters.

Glass and Aluminum

Clopay Aluminum Garage Door | We service Clopay garage doors

Aluminium frames with glazed panels, which bring daylight into the deep three and four-car garages common here.

Best for: garages doing double duty as a workshop or gym.

What to Know Before You Replace a Door in O’Fallon

Because O’Fallon runs its own code rather than the county one, your inspection is a city matter and goes through the O’Fallon Building and Code Enforcement Department. The code in force is the 2021 International Residential Code, most recently amended in September 2024.

For a straight swap, none of that applies. Replacing doors and windows without changing the opening size is exempt from permit here, with no cap on the number, which is more relaxed than most of the towns around it.

It matters if you are widening an opening, converting a two-car to a three, or squaring up an opening that has dropped. That is permitted work and it goes through the city.

On the doors themselves, the spec worth paying attention to here is spring cycle rating. A standard spring is rated for around 10,000 cycles, which on a household using the garage as its main way in and out is roughly seven years rather than the fifteen most people assume.

Insulation is the other one. A three-car garage attached to the house is a large uninsulated surface if the door has none, and on the subdivisions here that door is usually the builder-grade original.
